“Since God woke me up, I’ve been living the dream!”
As a Bible/Theology/Debate teacher, David Suarez ensures that his students are able to defend their faith and live out according to 1 Peter 3:15.
David has been teaching about 7 years (2 years as an Ivy League Teacher Assistant for Molecular Biology and as a Pre-School Honors student teacher assistant, 2 years as a Tutor of All Subjects & All Ages with Grade Potential and other tutoring companies, 1 year as a Trade School success coach, and 2 years as a High School Bible Teacher). His Undergraduate degree in Health and Human Biology was earned from Brown University, and his Master’s in Christian Apologetics was gained at Southern Evangelical Seminary. While being diagnosed with Hypersomnia in college, David found that the one time it didn’t affect him is when he was teaching or preaching about God! Therefore, he says his work as a Bible Teacher was a God-send, making him the right person to talk about disability and God’s ability!
He started a Ministry called “7^3” (Seven Cubed) at his church, a Young Adults ministry available on Instagram (@svc777_) that teaches Bible Study, Theology Studies, and Apologetics.
He did this to help live out Matthew 7:7 every Friday at 7 (thus the name “Seven Cubed”). He also hosts Q&A sessions so that atheists, muslims; anyone else in the community could come by and ask questions that can answer for them! He believes that the average College-age student is surrounded by tons of pressures against their Christian faith and Christian life. As a result, most Christians leave their faith behind when they go on to college. He wants to put an end to that statistic!
He also started my own YouTube ministry where He answers the big questions that non-Christians ask about Christianity (@betheiron on YouTube, Instagram, and “be_the_iron” on TikTok)
This personal ministry has the same function as his church ministry, but with a broad goal of explaining the intellectual depth of the Christian faith and how it stands above and beyond all other religions and philosophies that the world has to offer! The name “Be the iron” comes from Proverbs 27:17 where it is written “As Iron sharpens Iron, so one brother sharpens another.” His goal is to be the iron that sharpens someone else!
He also wrote his own book about everything he learned at Seminary, which is called “Sleepy Seminarian: Eclectic Essays I”. It allows people to see the kind of topics that are learned at Seminary and why a Seminary education is possible even for someone with a sleep disorder.
David says, “Not only did God make a way for me to graduate from Seminary despite my sleep disorder, He also allowed me to write about as many random topics as I could during my time in Seminary. This allows readers to see the breadth and depth of topics they could study in Seminary so that they can see why a Seminary education can be helpful! This is just the first book in a series of three books, each one getting more philosophically and theologically rigorous!”
Not only does David work as a High School Bible teacher broadly, but he has taught “Apologetics, Theology, Worldview Analysis, Ethics, the works of CS Lewis, Biblical Leadership, Debate, Old Testament Survey, and New Testament Survey” at his previous Bible Teacher job and will now be teaching a few more topics at his next Bible teaching job: “Evangelism, Biblical Foundations, New Testament Survey, Church History, Learn/Share the Gospel, and Apologetics 1 and 2”.
